Sara's WFH Makeup Routine

Whether working from home is your normal getup or if you’re completely new to it, today I will be sharing with you my WFH makeup routine. I know at first it may sound silly to apply makeup at all, especially when you don’t have to go into the office right now. But for me, I get on a fair bit of video calls and it helps me to get into ‘work mode’ which is important to start my day off on the right foot.

As a busy mom and company co-founder, my makeup routine has always been quick and simple long before social distancing. However, now that we are (and even if you’re reading this long after COVID-19) being able to pull your makeup together quickly and easily is a skill we should all be able to master. Few of us have time to do lengthy Instagram makeup routines and I’m not one of them!

My WFH Skincare

My first port of call is my moisturizer which is the Fresh Rose Deep Hydration Cream. My skin becomes very dry in the winter months and so this moisturizer is great for nourishing and hydrating my skin. It’s also a wonderful base for the makeup that I add on top. If you don’t hydrate dry skin, you’ll notice your skin effectively ‘drinks’ in any makeup you put on and leaves the pigment behind (which is why you have to constantly reapply throughout the day) causing cracking and creasing. With the right skincare, you can avoid this! I then finish up by dotting some eye cream under my eyes and along the orbital bone. My current weapon of choice is the Belif Moisturizing Eye Bomb.

Next, I go in with the Journ Correct & Perfect in the shade Matcha which helps to conceal the redness from acne and acne scars. It’s formulated with matcha, hibiscus and seaweed which work together to helping dry out spots, combat the appearance of acne scars as well as regulating sebum production. As a hybrid of both skincare and makeup, Matcha links both processes together in a way that’s also kind to the skin. The application of Matcha will neutralize and treat the skin at the same time.

Moving onto makeup, I wear Nars Sheer Glow in Fiji as my base. The dewy finish helps bring out a natural glow, which I enhance with Benefit’s Hoola bronzer to gently sculpt my cheekbones. My blush is also from Nars and I use the shade Amour which adds a subtle flush of pink to the apples of my cheeks without being too much. I then add a highlighter from my Smashbox palette. I finish my look off with some L’Occitane Shea Butter (and a dab of pink lipstick!) on my lips. The combination of both keeps my lips feeling conditioned but also adds just a touch of color.

To Sum Up

Even though I don’t have to head to the office right now, the time I have in the morning is still precious. After all, it would be impossible to run a business and take care of my daughter if I spent hours doing my makeup! As the founder of Journ - easy to use color correctors to simplify your routine - our whole ethos is about helping you achieve naturally flawless skin. I hope the above products give you some inspiration, especially as it only takes me less than 10 minutes to complete from start to finish.
